Honestly.com is a service that helps you, the community, engage in balanced, candid, and respectful conversations about the professional reputation of other business professionals. The goal is to help individuals get credit for the good work they do and honest feedback where needed, by balancing the interests of reviewers, review readers, and profile owners alike.

Central to this conversation is the balance and fairness of our community. As such, the following guidelines are intended to help the community understand what constitutes acceptable behavior on the site. For everyone's benefit, we are committed to enforcing these guidelines, in addition to Honestly's Terms of Use.

Reviewing People

Honestly.com reviews are community-contributed, candid assessments of professional performance. To help encourage candor and believability, reviewer identities are never outwardly tied to a review.

However, with the right to share candid opinions comes the responsibility to do so in a balanced way. Be honest, but be fair. Only review people you have a professional relationship with. Only discuss business-related topics. And remember, reviewers earn an authority rating over time, based on how others rate their reviews, so it is in the best interest of reviewers and the community to leave helpful reviews.

Reading Reviews

When reading reviews, remember that while each review is the professional opinion of an Honestly.com user, it's only one opinion. To help readers better judge a given review, Honestly.com provides community voting mechanisms, reviewer authority badges, and profile owner responses. So make sure to pay attention to them. And remember, as a member of the Honestly.com community, you too can add your own voice to the mix, by voting on reviews, leaving your own, and in the case where a review violates these Community Guidelines, reporting abuse. The vigilence of the community, in addition to our algorithmic safeguards, will help keep the community safe and productive.

Managing Your Reputation

Your professional reputation is important! Which is why we let individuals claim their profile, and actively build and manage their professional reputation. Claiming your profile gives you enhanced privileges with respect to that profile: new review notifications in your inbox, and the ability to edit your resume, respond to reviews, and request more reviews.

But with these rights come responsibilities. When responding to reviews, remember that people visiting your profile will be judging your responses. When editing your resume, be sure it accurately reflects positions you've held. And when requesting reviews, do so from people with whom you have a professional relationship.

We are committed to protecting your right to express yourself honestly by maintaining the privacy of which people you have reviewed. Only you will ever know who you have reviewed. However, it is important to realize that while Honestly.com exists for you to share your candid opinion, there are some things that should remain private, like private contact information, company trade secrets, information protected by copyright, or any other information you are contractually prevented from disclosing. Posting information like this is grounds for account termination, and the removal of all reviews left by that account.
